Olé Law Podcast

Taking an idea and turning it into a finished product can be a long process but it is incredibly rewarding. It’s a special moment when you take a client’s vision and turn it into a tangible creation they can see, *touch, and use.

Mugambi is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a trained Mediator, a legislative and policy analyst, and a PrivacyOps Certified Privacy and Data Protection Professional.

As you can imagine, he deals with complex Data Protection regulations and legislations that are difficult to explain in layman. The problem? 99% of people affected by the data protection regulations ARE laymen. To bridge this gap, he created a podcast to allow him and other professionals in his field to discuss Data Protection Regulations in Kenya.

My task was to brand his podcast and assist with the audio post-production.

The first step was researching the branding of similar, legal-oriented podcasts. Armed with some relevant inspiration, I proceeded to Illustrator. The font selection process was exhausting, but we settled on three options that matched our purpose.

The logo needed a touch of familiarity for podcast listeners, so an old-timey condenser microphone as a logomark seemed befitting.

With the logo concepts completed, the client reviewed and provided his feedback. This back and forth is usually the secret sauce, where you strive to fully capture the client’s vision and ensure that the final product converts views to interest, then clicks, then listeners to followers.

We explored a few color options, taking the color psychology of the end-user into account. The bright orange is optimistic and uplifting, a much-needed state of mind when dealing with complicated topics; and the deep blue is associated with knowledge, authority, and reliability.

The final logo and color scheme were selected. At this point, I began editing the first two podcast episodes to ensure the audio was crisp and audible. I added a bit of soothing background music that would keep the listeners calm and engaged.
